Safer Internet Day and Children’s Mental Health Week.

A post in our latest news section.

This week, our school took part in two important national events: Children’s Mental Health Week and Safer Internet Day.

For Safer Internet Day, our focus was on the rapidly growing world of artificial intelligence. Pupils explored what AI is, how it works, and—most importantly—how to use it safely and responsibly. We discussed common concerns around AI, such as privacy, reliability and online safety, and pupils worked together to offer clear, practical advice on what to do if they ever feel unsure or worried when using online tools.

As part of Children’s Mental Health Week, pupils reflected on the idea of having a personal safe place—a real or imagined space where they feel calm, grounded and secure. We explored how these safe spaces make us feel, and completed an activity to help pupils recognise when they might need to use these spaces to help manage strong feelings. We also discussed different strategies for regulating emotions and looking after our mental wellbeing.

Both events encouraged pupils to think deeply about their safety—online and emotionally—and helped them build the skills they need to navigate an ever-changing world with confidence and care.
