Welcome

I am delighted to be able to welcome you to our lovely school. St Mary’s has been educating children from the Hexham community since 1832 and is part of the Heavenfield Partnership.

When a child joins our school they become a part of the St Mary’s family. We pride ourselves on our nurturing approach, caring for our pupils and their families in our friendly, secure and happy environment. In St. Mary’s we seek to create an inclusive community where everybody is valued. We are a dedicated school team who are all committed to ensuring the best outcomes for every one of our pupils; we all work incredibly hard ensuring that our children enjoy their learning and achieve well.

Our Values

Our school reflects British values in all that it does. We encourage our children to be creative, unique, open-minded and independent individuals, respectful of themselves and of others in our school, our local community and the wider world. We aim to nurture our children on their journey through life so they can grow into safe, caring, democratic, responsible and tolerant adults who make a positive difference to British Society and to the wider world.

At St. Mary’s Catholic First School we aim to ensure that our values align closely with British values and through these our pupils will become productive citizens of modern Britain. These values are threaded throughout school life and evident in pupils’ behaviour in all areas.

Letters

We send out letters and newsletters on a regular basis to keep parents up to date with school decisions and progress.

At St Mary's, we keep our parents, carers and families informed about upcoming events and celebrations of our children's successes. We regularly publish a newsletter, which is sent out electronically to all of our parents and is made available on this page. We also use Social media to share the very latest events, learning and religious celebrations that take place within our school.
