Freeze Framing fun

Year 4 have been exploring scenes from ‘Matilda‘ through freeze frames, using their inference skills to show how characters are feeling. By focusing on body language, facial expressions, and positioning, pupils have been thinking deeply about what the characters might be experiencing beyond the words on the page.

We will use this work by turning these freeze frames into speech. Children will learn how to extend their dialogue using the ‘show, not tell’ technique—adding descriptive detail and emotion to make their writing more vivid and engaging
